Turkish wire rod exports value in April back to pre crisis levels

It is reported that in April this year, Turkey's wire rod exports achieved a peak volume for the preceding six months and reached their highest levels in value recorded since August 2008.

According to the statistics released by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association, in April this year Turkey's total wire rod exports amounted to 140,920 tonnes, climbing by 87.47% MoM and up 76.21% over April 2009. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled USD 85.87 million rising by 112% compared to the previous month and up 155.56% YoY.

In April, the average export price of Turkish wire rod amounted to USD 610 per tonne up USD 70 per tonne or 12.95% from March levels and indicating an increase of USD 189 per tonne or 45% compared to April 2009. Meanwhile, in the first 4 months of 2010, Turkey's wire rod exports surged by 19.32% amounting to 396,605 tonnes while the revenue of these exports totaled USD 218.8 million up 45% both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
