The arrival of powerful IP networks in companies and public institutions outlines a revolution in CCTV business. Although so far only 5% of all video surveillance system users have been using network-based solutions,
the arguments for this new technology are overwhelming:
Benefits: High
Video data is available via internet at any place in the world, providing you with the possibility to centrally monitor multiple locations, even if distributed globally. Also, external systems for fire or theft alarm, facility management or access control can be easily integrated. Connecting switch or control elements is just a matter of the right interface. Possible applications for IP based video surveillance are unlimited – this is just the beginning of a trailblazing venture.
Costs: Low
Existing cabling and infrastructure of analog legacy systems can be integrated in network-based systems. Costs are further minimized by standardized prizing, displaying and archiving technologies and by using cost-effective IT mass products. Essential components of analog systems, like multiplexers and v
deo recorders, are no longer needed, because the network takes over their functions. System maintenance is rarely required, which saves lots of time, and especially money.
Flexibility: Strong
In case an analog camera has to be relocated, the cabling needs repositioning as well, while a network camera only requires a network
connection. The camera is available immediately via a standard browser or SeeTec Software after assigning an IP address for the camera server („plug and watch“ technology). Camera settings can be changed for the whole
network. Other than with analog systems, IT networks provide the possibility of consistent structuring.
Performance: Impressive
There is no limit in network-based video surveillance regarding simultaneous storage of image data. 1,000 frames per second is state-
of-the-art-technology, provided the required bandwidth is available. Thanks to new data compression methods, video data requires extremely small storage space and can be retrieved within seconds from the database according
to different search parameters.

Architecture
SeeTec 5 has a modular, network-based approach. All functions are organized in modules which communicate via TCP. Multiple installations on distributed server computers guarantee scalability of the system as a whole. The Basis is a stringent client/server architecture which separates functionality (one or several cooperating servers) and display / administration (client moduls). There's no need for starting a separate program for recording image data.

The server services can be distributed in almost any constellation over one or several server systems, providing optimum distribution of computing load among the existing hardware. Even redundant video surveillance systems can be implemented with this approach. The administration client is available for the operating system 2000 / XP / 2003.
Another big advantage of SeeTec 5 Software are so-called alarm scenarios triggered by network cameras over SPS controls. Scenarios provide a way to define event-triggered reactions in a very differentiated way, for example by starting alarm recordings or closing doors. The alarm scenarios also determine the display options in the client.
The user administration can message up top 1.000 users, assigning them detailed rights for cameras, control elements and additional SeeTec 5 components like buttons or site plans. Site plans (e.g. property layouts) can be integrated to provide an overview of the surveillance scenario. Cameras can be added to those site plans by drag & drop to represent their actual location, providing a precise view of the relevant camera environment in case of alarms.
Multivendor Approach
The modular approach makes SeeTec 5 Software completely independent from the type of hardware used. Network cameras from renowned manufactureres, like Axis, Sony, Mobotix oder Panasonic, as well as SPS controls or audio modules can be integrated. You can use the best possible hardware for your specific surveillance scenario, thus reaching an optimum preice/performance ratio. For example, you can choose cameras from different vendors according to their individual strenghts (brightness, control, resolution etc.). We also offer special camera packages geared towards your individual needs
